Jesus' Message Revolutionized Man's Thinking
"The good news of Jesus 2000 years ago contained the proclamation of positive thoughts, thoughts totally centered upon his Father's business, resulting in the Kingdom of God upon earth in man. To accept Jesus and all that he came for, the people of the day needed new minds. Most could not, would not, think as he thought. Reformation on a full scale, 100 percent attendance to the higher calling, could not begin.
Rather, thoughts filled with power-seeking, selfishness, and impurity of all kinds blocked Jesus' way to higher thoughts within his contemporaries. Only by returning again and again to the source of all power-generating thoughts could Jesus replenish himself and go on. Jesus came to start a revolution in the thinking of man! That revolution is still going on; bringing God's kingdom on earth remains our divine mandate! We are part of that wave, that revolution. We pray that for your sake you will hear the need within yourself as you read our words to change the direction and content of your thinking so that His kingdom in all its love and light can dawn fully within you. Remember, only you can do it for yourself. Because of the tendency on the part of many to set firm their mental jaw with determination to live positively, we speak more.
We know from this side that many latter-day philosophies have covered the earth, philosophies which massage man into good feelings and efforts toward positive thinking. Some of them, though couched in beautiful language and bound in beautiful covers, do not say that much. A number of them have helped considerably in causing their readers to examine more fully the influence of thought upon life's unfolding circumstances. This is so good. But we want to move you to action, dear reader! You must establish a practical approach to changing the negative record of thought you play within your mind day after day. Unless a philosophy be livable what use is it! So lest we sound like spiritually empty poets and philosophers, we want to offer some practical solutions.
Acknowledge and Claim Your Own Goodness
First, you must see your goodness and your potential. And in doing so, you must affirm both. While it is true that He who made us is far above us upon the scale of love, we must not wrongfully compare and thereby nullify the value He placed within us. There is a difference between laying claim to having caused goodness within ourselves and giving God credit for whatever goodness we see. Jesus said, "No one is good but God." By this he meant only God is absolutely all love, all good. Man contains elements of intrinsic goodness resultant from God's goodness in man, but man also contains elements of evil. In this sense, truly only God has been good.
To downgrade yourself constantly while trying at the same time to be positive works confusion and havoc within the human psyche. There are those caught in this paradox who simply do not grow, because while on one hand they affirm, they at the same time deny. It is a new time, a new age. The old concepts belong to a lesser day. God today wants and needs man to proclaim his sonship. It is a matter of emphasis. If I think my goodness derives from self-creation without the handiwork of God, I err. But to acknowledge my goodness as derived from Him is to glorify Him correctly. So for His sake we must proclaim and nurture this goodness within.
Displace Negativity with Realistic Positivity
Secondly, we urge you not to waste energy upon denial. Admit what is wrong with you. See your negative thinking for what it is. You cannot leave your enemy behind unless you see and know him. Still, you cannot be a Pollyanna and believe that if you simply ignore it, negative thinking will go away. See it objectively. Do not enter into battle with it or engage in self-castigation. If you do, you are caught back into its web. Rather, see your negative thinking and know the details of its appearance. Each time negativity tries to capture your attention you can recognize the tell-tale signs and can turn away, putting distance between you and "it." Be ready then to protect yourself and raise yourself by affirming your goodness. Make affirmations your fellow soldiers in the battle to rise. Let them protect you and lift you. And know that as you do so, you will become stronger and stronger. It is a displacement, replacement process. As you fill your mind with positivity, realistic positivity, you displace negativity. By ignoring its efforts to pull you back and down you cease to give it power over your life. By spending even a moment's notice you re-engage it. In the engaging resisting process you enter again into the age-old battle for freedom of thought.
Thought Is Energy, Thought Is Real, Thought Has Power
Thirdly, you must acknowledge the reality of energy though it is yet invisible in some forms to your sight on earth. Energy is real. You are energy. Thought is energy, and energy in any form when set in motion moves ever forward, seeking an object with which to unite to fulfill its intrinsic role, design, and structure. Elements within the form automatically dictate its course and its influence.
Negative thought is energy set in a particular molecular form, containing a particular life, set forth upon a course. It is a living entity created by man, not having individualized, God-given character, but, nevertheless, a character given by man. Enough negative thoughts gathered together coupled with accompanying spiritual forces can and do weaken and destroy. Thoughts, whatever their content, are not abstract. They are real and have life as animated by and through man. In accord with inner content, man's thoughts go in advance of his earthly life, paving the road to come, and drawing to him that which he thinks about day after day. This is a cosmic fact. Man does to a large, large extent create his own reality and does indeed experience self-fulfilling prophecies.
Had man not left the Lord of lofty and loving thoughts, man's thoughts would have paved a road toward heaven on earth and would have drawn to himself only goodness. But now his ignorance contaminates his path, blocks his way, and draws to himself energies unworthy of his original divinely attuned being.
The Proper Use of Energy Guarantees Success
Meditate long upon our words. You will find power in them: God designed the world for success through the proper use of energy. He sent forth His thought into the vacuum waiting to be filled. He meditated for eons upon the future and paved the way to the eventual cosmos with thoughts only of success and love. He then drew to Himself, out of Himself, beings called angels that could help Him fulfill this dream.
He still thinks and dreams so. And whoever dreams with Him will find transformation and true power! We bless these words to the heart of the reader. In His holy name and to the proclamation of His holy thought we stand by ever ready to help you and Him in this upward evolution to peace on earth, in heaven, and in His heart."
